Teaching Positions

Director of Faith Formation & Discipleship

Bishop Hoffman Catholic School is seeking a Full-Time (could be catered to part-time) Director of Faith Formation and Discipleship ("Director") who will help create an environment which encourages and guides all members to contribute to the Catholic Identity of the BHCS system and the formation of a faith community which responds to the spiritual needs of the students, teachers, staff, and parents. This entails collaboration with principals from both campuses and our Fremont parishes. 

Essential Job Functions 

Spiritual Growth (Know the Lord) 

  • Organize, plan and implement an effective retreat program for students, faculty, and staff, fostering faith development, evangelization and leadership enrichment (including all high school class retreats). 

Prayer and Sacramental experiences (Love the Lord) 

  • Provide opportunities for students, faculty, and staff to celebrate the sacraments including penance services during Advent and Lent 

  • Coordinate and schedule liturgical celebrations including, but not limited to, weekly campus Masses, Eucharistic Adoration, May Crowning, Baccalaureate Mass, and 8th grade Graduation Mass 

  • Organize training for liturgical ministers with the respective parishes: extraordinary ministers of the Eucharist, lectors, servers and all other students involved with liturgical celebrations.

  • Identify and organize resources required to support Catholic Schools Week and Respect Life Week 

Discipleship (Serve the Lord) 

  •  Infuse the concepts of justice, peace, human dignity, and the integrity of creation into all aspects of ministry. 

  • Grow and oversee a unified BHCS service program, including collaboration with local service agencies to provide ongoing service opportunities. 

  • Develop and organize a district-wide family group system in support of the BHCS accreditation.

  • Build positive relationships that enable BHCS to effectively serve Catholic families in all parishes throughout Sandusky County and contiguous counties. 

  • Support and encourage students and families to become active participants in their family parish.

  • Participate in the efforts to develop outreach initiatives for new and non-Catholic students and their families. 

 

Additional Job Functions

  • Is available to all stakeholders and present on the school campuses and at school activities.

  • Encourages students to discern the vocation for which God has created them including referral to the Diocese of Toledo vocation director for interested students. 

  • Stays abreast of current developments in the area of school/campus ministry.

  • Demonstrates self-discipline, a stable demeanor, emotional maturity, and flexibility in both routine and unexpected situations. 

  • Utilizes communication, initiative, creativity, and problem solving skills.

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Practicing Catholic with an active sacramental and faith-life and in good standing with the Church

  • Bachelor's degree or demonstrated commensurate experience.

Junior High Reading and English Teacher

Bishop Hoffman Catholic School: St. Joseph's Central Catholic High School (BHCS:SJCC) is seeking a Junior High Academy Reading and English Teacher.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or valid Ohio teaching certificate. Master’s preferred.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Instruct a language arts program that engages students in oral and written discourse developing student competence in listening, speaking, reading and writing. 

  • Align assessment with instructional goals appropriate to the needs of each student.

  • Design lesson plans that facilitate learning with resources and activities that achieve curriculum objectives.

  • Monitor students’ academic progress, remedial concerns, and any discipline issues and communicate with administration, parents, and other staff, as needed.

  • Establish classroom rules and procedures and be consistent with implementation.

  • Participating in school events and acting as a chaperone when required.

  • Attending meetings, staff training, conferences, and other ongoing learning opportunities.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or valid Ohio teaching certificate. Master’s preferred. 

  • A strong interest in literature and language. 

  • Compassionate and understanding with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Teach content and skills in English language, literature and composition.

  • Provide learning experiences designed to meet individual needs through individual and/or group instruction.

Bishop Hoffman Catholic School: Sacred Heart Campus(BHCS:Sacred Heart) is seeking two Fifth Grade teacher ministers for the 2023-2024 school year. Applicants should be dedicated to both the faith and academic formation of students.

The individual must have a valid Ohio teaching license. Part Time Elementary Music Teacher

Bishop Hoffman Catholic School: Sacred Heart Campus(BHCS:Sacred Heart) is seeking a Part-Time Music Teacher for the 2023-2024 School Year for students in grades K-5. 

The candidate should be professional, disciplined, and supportive of a safe and positive learning environment. This teacher will be expected to plan and implement an appropriate music curriculum for various grade levels, as well as actively collaborate with the school community. 

Experience teaching music is preferred, but not required. Candidate will be responsible for teaching music to our Kindergarten through 5th grade students. The ability to organize and present a Christmas and Spring music program is required. Classroom management and organization skills are vital to the success of a teacher in this role.

Successful candidates will have either a teaching certificate from the state of Ohio or a non-tax certificate.

Custodian/Maintenance-Sacred Heart Campus

Bishop Hoffman Catholic School – Sacred Heart Campus in Fremont, Ohio is seeking a full time Custodian/Maintenance. Preferred candidates must have a high school diploma and BCI/FBI background checks. Candidates must have a desire to work in a Christian environment and have good communication skills. The goal of this position is to keep the school building in such a state of operating excellence that they present no problems or interruptions to the educational program.

 

Performance Responsibilities:

1. Cleans and preserve assigned areas and equipment.

2. Performs assigned custodial duties: Cleans assigned areas. Dry mops/washes floors. Cleans furniture, fixtures, walls and windows. Provides regular/orderly removal of trash. Moves/arranges furnishings, supplies and equipment as directed. Replaces light bulbs. Polishes hardware (e.g., door handles, push/kick plates, handrails, drinking fountains, etc.). Spot cleans stains.

3. Removes ice and snow from sidewalks, pull weeds, rake leaves; maintains grounds and equipment.

4. Performs ongoing preventive maintenance and minor repairs and maintains records on maintenance requests and services.

5. Completes painting projects.

6. Processes/distributes equipment, supplies and commodities.

7. Completes daily inspections of building grounds and equipment.

8. Maintains records of required inspections, pest control services, (contracted and internal performance).

9. Follows health and safety guidelines to clean up after injuries/sickness involving chemicals, solvents, blood, body fluids, such as vomit, and/or body tissues.

10. Assures building is adequately heated, has electric and water services and requests maintenance help when necessary.

11. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

12. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community.

13. Ensures effective communication between building principal and staff to meet building needs.

14. Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the building principal.

Part-Time Bus Driver

Bishop Hoffman Catholic School is seeking to hire a Bus Driver for before school transportation and after school activities.  

The position is approximately 30 hours per week.  Work schedule is Monday through Friday from 5:30am - 8:15am and

2:15pm – 5:00pm and some after school high-school athletic activities with hours to be determined. 

Qualifications:

  • Must be 21 years of age

  • Must have high school diploma or equivalent

  • Must have C.D.L. license with passenger and school bus endorsements

               or be willing to attend required classes to receive C.D.L.

  • Must be able to work independently without supervision
